Unhappy Customer Threatened Double Glazing Firm

An unhappy customer took his complaint a bit too far when he threatened staff at a double glazing firm in Weymouth.
A jury at Dorchester Crown Court found 37-year-old Steven Maurice Faizey guilty of causing an affray, having been accused of making threats to staff at The Windowman shop in Abbotsbury Road, Weymouth.
The incident took place on 3 February and occurred after Mr Faizey, of Trenchard Way, Chickerell employed the company to undertake some work on his conservatory. Staff at the store – salesmen Dean Richards and Nathan Moore – claimed an angry Faizey turned up to confront them about the work and pulled out a knife, behaving in a threatening manner.
In his defence, Faizey claimed he had used a pair of nail cutters in self defence to keep the staff at bay, and in his closing speech, Faizey’s solicitor Tim Shorter told the jury it was perfectly plausible that the staff had mistaken the nail cutters for what they assumed to be a knife.
Shortly after the incident, Mr Richards told the Dorset Echo: “At the time I was absolutely terrified and just shocked.”
A guilty verdict was delivered on the affray charge, but Faizey was found not guilty of possessing a knife. He was released on conditional bail and is set to be sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on 11 November.
Based in Weymouth and Dorchester, The Windowman is a local business that has almost 10 years experience in the supply and fitting of UPVC windows and doors.
