Double Glazing Firm Rises From the Ashes

Staff at a double glazing company in Accrington have joined forces to resurrect the business, after the nearly fifty-year-old windows firm closed its doors.
Back in July, Sureframe windows ceased trading, making eight members of staff jobless. But now, three months later, a team of six former employees have used their initiative to ward off unemployment by resurrecting the business.
Since relaunching as APS Windows Ltd, former sales director Tony Davis and his workmates have celebrated their 100th customer and the company looks set to go from strength to strength.
A victim of a struggling market place and uncertain economic times, the family-run double glazing firm had been successfully installing uPVC windows and doors for 46 years.
“A week after being made redundant I registered the business, and got some small business units and we were off,” Mr Davis explained.
“We have managed to accommodate most of the people from Sureframe and the old customers are delighted to have us back.”
